Ten Bob Note

Friday 26th September 2008

Location: Polesworth, Warwickshire, Coventry Canal

Today: 8 miles, 2 locks. Total distance: 1752 miles.  Total locks: 1236

Pulled the pins at 07:30 and headed off in thick mist towards Fazeley Junction where we joined the Coventry Canal. The mist finally cleared around 11:00, not long before we moored up at Polesworth. It’s hard to believe that it is almost two months since we moored here last when we were on our way north – time flies.

Today is the first day in a long time since I have had to wear gloves, it has been quite cold in the mist and dampness. Now that we are moored up, the sun is out and it has warmed up considerably. We would still rather be up and about early (the dogs see that we are anyway) and be on the move before the queues start at the locks rather than sit around waiting for the weather half the morning.

One thing that I am noticing these days, t-mobile 3g reception seems to be getting more widespread, more and more of the spots we moor at are now covered by 3g. When we moored at this location last year, I could only get a few bars of GPRS signal. Today, I am getting full strength 3g.
