Ten Bob Note

Thursday 25th September 2008

Location: Hopwas, Staffordshire, Birmingham and Fazeley Canal

Today: 10 miles, 6 locks. Total distance: 1744 miles.  Total locks: 1234

Pulled the pins at 07:00 and headed to the winding hole at Alrewas to turn around as we are planning on heading down the Coventry Canal. It took just on one hour to get through the lock, turn (there was a boat moored right beside the winding hole that made turning a bit more of a challenge) and to arrive back where we started at the mooring spot where we spent the last two nights.

Headed up through the locks at Fradley Junction then turned left onto the Coventry canal.

We had intended to moor just south of Whittington but when we arrived there it was a bit on the busy side so we carried on. Eventually moored up about a mile south of Hopwas in a nice bright spot beside open fields.

Once again, there has been a lot of boating traffic out and about today – must be the fine weather.
