Wednesday 30th July 2008 Location: Polesworth, Warwickshire, Coventry Canal Today: 5 miles, 11 locks. Total distance: 1578 miles. Total locks: 1151 Up early today and pulled the pins around 07:00 to get to the Atherstone flight before the queues start forming. Got to the flight just before 08:00 and had a pleasant journey down the flight. Got to the bottom around 10:00 just as it was starting to get busy. When we passed this way last year, there was a queue of around half a dozen boats waiting to go up the locks so we just moored up and went up early the following morning as we are not into queuing for locks. Walked into Polesworth village and picked up some sausages at the local butcher. I seem to remember that they were good the last time we passed this way. Update Thursday 31st Popped back to the butcher for some fillet steak as he didn’t have any yesterday and had told us that he would have his weekend supply in today. A nice butcher and reasonably priced. Went for a walk around the Abbey, the main section was built around 800. A lovely place and well worth a visit - some photos below. Current Mooring
