Friday 31st August 2007 Location: Brinklow, Warwickhire Today: 12 miles, 1 locks. Total distance: 510 miles. Total locks: 382 Cool, overcast. Reasonable t-mobile GPRS reception here. Left the Ashby and headed down the Coventry to Hawksbury junction where we turned off on to the Oxford canal. Intended to moor near bridge 26 as there is a nice round trip walk to Brinklow from there that we have done a couple of times in the past. When we got close to bridge 26 around 12:30, there were no moorings to be had. I think this last week has been the busiest week on the canals all year – roll on the winter!! Finally got a mooring near bridge 35 but there are no decent walks back to Brinklow village from here so it is a good job that we popped to the local shop back at Hawksbury. Cool today, lit the fire shortly after mooring up. Current mooring, nb Lady April to our stern Interesting boat yard at Bedworth on the Coventry Boat yard at Bedworth Old engine house at Hawskbury in the background The Greyhound at Hawksbury junction. Shame about the pylon!! Hawksbury junction looking back from stop lock Previous page -|- Next page -|- Index page |
