Had a pleasant surprise today. Was sitting reading when a knock came to the door. Opened the door to find it was John off nb Gemma Joy. John and I crossed paths around three years ago and have loosely kept in touch ever since. I was very envious of John’s recent three month trip to India – read all about it HERE. Will see you again over the coming days John.

Pulled the pins fairly late in the afternoon as we decided to leave the docks to head on south a bit for some peace and quiet. Was hoping to reach Frampton as my sister and brother-in-law are coming to visit tomorrow and Frampton is reportedly a nice spot with a good pub in the village. We got as far as Saul Junction but were too late to get through the bridge. All the bridges on this canal are operated by BW staff and they are manned between 08:00 and 19:00. We arrived at the Saul bridge spot on 19:00 and were too late for passage through – our fault entirely – we should have given it all a bit more thought but thinking is not one of my better traits these days – I leave thinking to those that are much better at it than me……
