Sunday 24th May 2009 Location: Little Venice, Grand Union Canal Today: 0 miles, 0 locks. Total distance: 2106 miles. Total locks: 1453 Still here in Little Venice, enjoying the area and taking some time to visit parts of London that I have not been to before. I have spent a great deal of time in London over the years (I lived 18 miles north of Little Venice for around 17 years) but for some strange reason have never been to Brick lane and the markets around that area – I remedied that today - interesting but very busy. Also, I have never walked around Regents Park itself, only the zoo. Took Archie to the park the other afternoon and it was well worth the visit, nicer than Hyde park and Kensington Gardens. Coal boat Baron passed by late yesterday afternoon so I took the chance to fill up with diesel as they were selling it for 55p per litre. The last time I came across diesel on sale for this low a price was back in November 2007. The father and son on Baron were extremely pleasant to deal with as well, nice people. Current Mooring Coal boat Baron Note the price of the diesel, 55p per litre....excellent Brick lane on a sunny Sunday - a bit on the busy side........ Coal boats in Paddington Basin Paddington Basin Boat and butty moving through Little Venice - the boat on the left is the unpowered butty Previous Page -- Next page -|- Index page |
