Ten Bob Note

Thursday 29th January 2009

Location: Kings Sutton, Northamptonshire, Oxford Canal

Today: 3 miles, 1 locks. Total distance: 1946 miles.  Total locks: 1333

Well, after 13 days in the same location, I have finally moved and it was so nice to be on the go again.

I did a final shop at Morrisons, filled the water tank and pulled the pins around 09:30. I have decided to head south and was pointing north so I had to reverse back to the winding hole so that I could turn.

Only a short distance today, 3 miles and one lock but I enjoyed it immensely. I didn’t want to travel any further today as I would like to have a wander around Adderburry tomorrow – weather permitting. Also, my son Glenn phoned me yesterday to say that he may pop down to visit me over the weekend so I didn’t want to be too far from Banbury train station. Glenn has a push bike that he will bring with him on the train and will cycle along the tow path to get to the boat.

It is so nice to be out in the country side again after being in the town for so long.

I hired a car and travelled down to visit my mum earlier in the week, I stayed Monday night with my sister in Wiltshire. It was good to see my mum but she is now looking very frail indeed. She seems to be smaller and thinner every time I see her. At least the nursing home seems to be a nice one, if nursing homes can be thought of as nice.

A nice day, cold but dry.

Went for a walk into and around Adderbury with Archie this morning, photos below. It was a lovely 5 mile round trip walk, see GPS track. Adderbury is a lovely old village and well worth a visit, I always enjoy walking around the village when in this area.
