Friday 19th October 2007 Location: Paddington, London, Grand Union Today: 10 miles, 12 locks. Total distance: 814 miles. Total locks: 519 Lovely bright day. Good t-mobile 3g reception here. Something went wrong with the file that I uploaded to the web site last night. The file covered Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Have been having laptop problems – again. My Sony Vaio AR21s has already been back to Sony for repair twice and it is only nine months old. My last Vaio gave no problems at all and is still working but it is very slow by today’s standards. Anyway, we travelled up from Limehouse to Paddington basin on Friday. Got stopped by the police just below Kentish Town lock. They were removing the body of a 40 year old man from the lock. They took 3 hours to recover the body. Saturday took the train to visit mother, sister Ley and brother-in-law Ron. Ron and Ley very kindly picked me up from and dropped us back to Chipenham train station. We were surprised at the cost of the tickets, £42 for a saver return!! Sunday walked over to the Tottenham Court road as I have been looking for a new camera. Found what I was after at a reasonable price so bought it – it is a Canon G9 and I am very pleased with it. Went to get the tube back to the Edgeware road from Tottenham Court, the tickets were £4 each so decided to walk the mile and a half along Oxford street. The price of tickets on the tube has risen drastically since the last time I was in London. Would stay in Paddington basin again – quiet and secure.
