Tuesday 28th August 2007 Location: Stoke Golding, Leicestershire Today: 20 miles, 0 locks. Total distance: 489 miles. Total locks: 381 Warm, overcast. Reasonable t-mobile GPRS reception here. We have had a very enjoyable weekend with our visitors. We met up with my sister Lee, her husband Ron and Chips their dog at Sutton Wharf on Sunday then headed north up the Ashby with Ron at the tiller. Sutton Wharf is a good spot for leaving a car as there is parking behind gates that get locked up at night (BW padlock). We moored up at our usual spot near bridge 43 close to Market Bosworth and walked up to the town with the dogs. On Monday we popped up to the town for papers etc. then headed up to the end of the Ashby to take on water. We were going to have lunch at the Globe pub but they were not serving food (bank holiday Monday), only a BBQ. After taking on water, we returned to Market Bosworth and moored up for the night. Returned to Sutton Wharf today after walking with the dogs up to the town for papers. Dropped Ley, Ron and Chips off for their journey back to home in Wiltshire then we continued on south to Stoke Golding where we have moored for the night in the same spot that we moored at last week when heading north. All in all, we covered around 20 very pleasant miles with Ron at the tiller. Previous page -|- Next page -|- Index page |
