Friday 3rd August 2007 Location: Froghall, Staffs Today: 10 miles, 8 lock. Total distance: 343 miles. Total locks: 309 Warm in the morning, dull in the afternoon. Headed back down the Leek branch and back on to the main Caldon canal to Froghall. Stopped off at Cheddleton and walked to the local shop. The shop is about a quarter of a mile from the canal and up a fairly steep hill. Also had a wander around the Flint Mill, an interesting site. Cruised into Froghall and turned around at the winding hole. Moored up about a mile east of Froghall in a spot wide enough for two boats to pass. A lot of the canal near Froghall is very narrow and shallow. Passed Consall railway station which is now used by restored steam trains. Couldn’t get close enough for any decent photos which was a shame. Once more, we came through some lovely countryside again today.
