Location: Pewsey, Wiltshire, Kennet & Avon

Today: 6 miles, 0 locks. Total distance: 1337 miles.  Total locks: 904

The weather forecast for the weekend is not looking too good – lots of rain. Decided to move on to Pewsey today while the weather is still reasonable.

Met up with a couple in their 70s that have just bought a boat (Old Speckled Hen) and moved on board to become continuous cruisers. They are a lovely couple and are greatly enjoying life on their boat.

Popped into Pewsey to visit the Co-Op and the butcher. Picked up some more sausages from the butcher as the ones we bought from him when we passed this way some weeks back were lovely.

We received an email from a guy called Chop kindly wishing us all the best for our first anniversary of being continuous cruisers. It’s hard to believe that it is just over a year since we moved on board – we have both enjoyed it immensely and have no plans to move back into bricks and mortar any time soon.

Changed the engine and gearbox oil this afternoon, not my favourite job as it is a bit cramped in the engine bay and a pain to clean up any oil spillages. If we ever have a ‘next boat’ (must buy another lottery ticket) it will have an engine room giving easy access to the engine and batteries for servicing.
