Ten Bob Note

Sunday 3rd February 2008

Location: North Kilworth, Leicestershire, Grand Union

Today: 10 miles, 0 locks. Total distance: 1092 miles.  Total locks: 701

After picking up the papers from the village we pulled the pins and headed down to Crick marina to top up with diesel and to turn around. The diesel was only 58p per litre – the cheapest we have come across in quite a while.

It has been a very cold and windy day today, it was a real challenge getting into and out of Crick marina.

The new chainsaw should be arriving next Tuesday and we don’t have any petrol for it. The nearest petrol station that is easy to reach from the canal is at North Kilworth hence the reason for our return. We will be heading into the village tomorrow for the papers and will pick up some petrol from the garage at the same time.

While we are back in this area we will probably visit the butcher in South Kilworth again. We ate some of the sausages that we bought there when we were in this area last week – they were lovely so we will get some more.
