Ten Bob Note

Thursday 27th December 2007

Location: Cropredy, Oxfordshire, Oxford Canal

Today: 10 miles, 8 locks. Total distance: 978 miles.  Total locks: 638

Cold windy day. Reasonable t-mobile gprs reception here.

Pulled the pins at 08:00 and headed off to Cropredy. A bit on the windy side today but still a very nice day for the time of year.

Passed nb Gosty Hill and Alison and Iain – photo below.

Also passed nb Alnwick and met up with Graham & Jane, it nice to meet them face to face at long last.

I sold my laptop on ebay (story here) and the guy who bought it off me met up with us near a road bridge to collect it. I am glad to see the back of it, not because I think it will be a problem anymore, just because I want nothing more to do with Sony.

We are moored up about 100 yards away from where we moored the last time we were in Cropredy back at the beginning of September. I had a look back at some of the photos I took during the last visit – what a difference 3 months makes to the countryside.

Friday 28th
We went out for a meal at The Red Lion last night. A bit of a disappointment as we had heard good things about their food. That’s three pub meals in the last ten days that have been disappointing – perhaps it is us?? To be fair to The Red Lion, they did have a sign up to say that they were short of staff due to sickness. Time to give the pubs a rest again and to go back to the Indian restaurants as we had much better success with them.

Current mooring

Countryside around Wormleighton

Nice farm house

Bridge beside farm house needs some work doing!!

Not much clearance !!

Fenny Compton

Fenny Compton Tunnel - tunnel long since gone

Fenny Tunnel looking north
