Ten Bob Note

Monday 30th July 2007

Location: Thurlwood, Cheshire

Today: 4 miles, 12 lock. Total distance: 312 miles.  Total locks: 279

Cloudy with some short sunny spells. Cool at times.

Left Wheelock around 08:00 this morning, stopped in the village to take on water and pick up the papers.

Covered 4 miles and 12 locks this morning along what is known as ‘heartbreak hill’. It is not really a difficult stretch of locks, we have passed through worse.

Moored up around 12:30 for lunch and decided to stay here for the night. Will carry on down through the rest of the locks to Kidsgrove tomorrow.

We met a couple on another boat at a lock and they were telling us that they started out on their journey back in May and are on their way back home as they are tired of the wet weather. They normally spend the whole of the summer cruising but have had enough for this summer. They said that they had not even had a chance to light their BBQ this year.

Nice sunny skies over the Lock Cottage!!
