Ten Bob Note

Monday 23rd July 2007

Location: Market Drayton, Shrops

Today: 8 miles, 5 lock. Total distance: 279 miles.  Total locks: 236

A few dry spells in between the showers, mild.

Up around 07:00 and surprise surprise, it wasn’t raining. Decided to move on to Market Drayton to do some shopping. Wasn’t long after we moved off that the rain started!!

Once again, passed through some lovely countryside and a very impressive cutting at Woodseaves. There has been some land slip in the cutting caused by the heavy rains. It wouldn’t take too much of a slip to block the canal.

Moored at Market Drayton and walked the half mile or so into the town centre. It’s a nice town with a good assortment of shops, well worth a visit. It would have been a much more pleasant visit if it hadn’t been for the showers every 10 minutes.

The stove is lit again, it has been lit just about every day for the last 3 weeks, not because it is cold (although it has been quite cool some nights) but because it helps dry things out.

We are moored up out in the countryside again as it is much better for the dogs.
